Luxembourg returned to Eurovision after a more than 30-year hiatus. The country has not participated in the competition since 1993, despite being one of the most successful in its history. However, already on May 7, Luxembourg amused Eurofans with its enchanting comeback. The representative of the Grand Duchy of TALI took the stage in Malmö, Sweden, in the first semi-final, conquering the audience with the song Fighter.
TALI managed to prove herself well and represent her country with dignity, advancing to the grand finals, in which she will compete for the crystal microphone on May 11. OBOZ.UA watched the number of the representative of Luxembourg live.
The song in French by the contestant tells about “how all people suffer and how they endure suffering.” In particular, TALI gives an example from her own life in New York, where she “experiences so much rejection” in the music industry.
This performance allowed Luxembourg to enter the top ten favorites who became the first finalists of Eurovision 2024 based on the results of the audience vote.
However, bookmakers do not see Luxembourg among this year’s leaders. After the first semi-final, the country was ranked 22nd in the analysts’ rating.
Luxembourg made its debut at Eurovision since the contest was founded in 1956. This country is also one of the most successful participants of the show, because it has as many as 5 victories in its arsenal. Only Ireland and Sweden have more (7 wins each), as well as Luxembourg with five wins in France, the Netherlands and Great Britain.
Luxembourg’s two consecutive victories in 1972 and 1973 are especially impressive. Unfortunately, after a series of unsuccessful performances in the 80s and early 90s, the country stopped participating in the competition in 1993.
It is known that 23-year-old Tali Golergant was born in Israel and currently lives in New York, where she works as a vocal coach and music teacher. She also stars in musicals, including Les Misérables, and released her first album in 2021. The girl was born in November 2000, that is, she has never seen Luxembourg participate in Eurovision. However, she was the artist who returned the country to the competition after such a long break.
