Initially, the factory processed frozen fries and flakes. Very quickly, they began to increase the site’s production capacity by investing in a specialty manufacturing line. In 1981, the Lutosa brand was launched. In 1988, the Van den Broeke brothers took over the Primeur company in Sint-Eloois-Vijve, which thus became Lutosa’s second site, and in 1998 they added a fresh fries manufacturing unit (Vanelo). In 2007, the Van den Broeke brothers took a well-deserved retirement and handed over the reins of the company to SA Pinguin Lutosa Foods, which itself sold its rights to the McCain group in 2013.
