Lüthi throws down as Töff sports director in the Moto3 team Prüstel

The new professional life following retiring as a racing driver lasted only one year for Tom Lüthi (36). The man from Bern is already quitting his job as sports director in the German Moto3 World Championship racing team PrüstelGP.

The Swiss motorbike magazine “Moto Sport Schweiz” was the first to report on Lüthi’s resignation. The Emmentaler says to Blick: “There were many personnel changes in the team, which is why the tasks were redistributed. But I had other ideas. The new constellation no longer suited me. I then told Florian that.”

The long-term goal was actually that the Swiss would one day run the racing team operationally and thus be able to relieve team boss and forwarding company boss Florian Prüstel (33). Now the big plans for the former team of the late Swiss motorbike talent Jason Dupasquier († 19) are gone once more.

For Lüthi, however, the quick end is not the end of the world, he leaves without resentment. “I made the decision without emotion. I mightn’t have worked the way I imagined. So I let it be.”

However, Lüthi will remain loyal to motorcycling. He will remain active as a TV expert at SRF and will therefore always be present in the GP paddock. He will increasingly offer race track training for partner companies. In addition, the Berner remains the manager of youngster Noah Dettwiler (17).

The brother of Lüthi’s girlfriend Noëlle is competing for a second year in the World Junior Championships, where his manager is hoping for better results than 2022 when a ninth place was the highlight.

However, a GP entry this year was not an issue, not only because of the results: since the age limit in the World Championships was raised to 18 following serious accidents, Dettwiler might only have entered following the start of the season due to his birthday on April 26th.
