Lusail Super Cup: Al Hilal crowned against Zamalek

The meeting between Zamalek (Egypt) and Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia) as part of the Lusail Super Cup, which took place this Friday, September 9 in Qatar, kept its promises and it was ultimately the Saudis who won on penalties on goal (1-1, 4-1 pens).

Serving to inaugurate the new Lusail stadium which will host the 2022 World Cup final, this match between the Egyptian champion and the Saudi Arabian champion was thrilling.

Nigerian Odion Ighalo opened the scoring for Al Hilal in the 18th minute before Ahmes Sayed Zizo equalized for the White Knights in the 33rd minute. After these two goals in the first part, no more goals will be scored until the end. It was necessary to resort to the test of the nerves to decide between the two teams.

The penalty shootout was well negotiated by the Saudi team which won the trophy.

With 80,000 seats, the Lusail Iconic Stadium is the largest, and the only one of the eight stadiums selected for the World Cup, to have not yet hosted any competition.
