LüneHünen is looking forward to the next difficult games
So, our friends, we gather again to unravel the tapestry that is the Bundesliga and its unpredictable rollercoaster. The LüneHünen, bless their hearts, return to the Champions League with a flourish, but hold your horses! The true test is just around the corner, lurking like a dinner invite from your ex. Seven consecutive wins—oh, joyous streak! But against *who*, you might ask? Mostly underdogs! Talk about a confidence booster… or a false sense of security!
Confirm the positive development in Giesen
Now, before we dive into this upcoming northern derby, let’s not forget that the Giesen Grizzlys might just be the slippery fish in this little pond. Yes, they recently found themselves smacked down by Istanbul in the Champions League but came back with a ‘never say die’ attitude, defeating Chaumont 3-2 after trailing 0-2. That’s the kind of comeback we like to see, isn’t it? It’s like the football equivalent of finding your wallet in your jacket right after you thought you lost it!
The Grizzlys might be sitting in fifth place, looking somewhat deceptively sour with five points less than our beloved SVG Lüneburg, but don’t let that fool you. Their opening matches were tougher than explaining TikTok to your grandparents—Berlin, Friedrichshafen, Düren! And they still came out relatively unscathed. Not to mention, they had to make some surprising player exits faster than we can say “transfer window!” Michiel Ahyi decided to skip town for South Korea, and his replacements vanished quicker than last weekend’s buffet leftovers!
However, silver linings, my friends! Our young Israeli star, Mark Rura, seems to be stepping into the limelight. Standing tall at 2.06m, he’s igniting sparks from the diagonal position, albeit with fluctuating performance levels—think of him as the Netflix of volleyball players. Sometimes a hit, sometimes a miss. And let’s not ignore the veteran Hauke Wagner, who at 37 still outpaces players half his age. It’s like watching your dad attempt to play football at a family BBQ; hilarious and skillful in equal measure!
SVG’s coach, Itamar Stein, clearly has his work cut out for him with player rotations and injuries, but a recent victory has his rival coach, Stefan Hübner, licking his chops: “We look forward to the next big opponent!” he says, possibly with a glittering grin. Sure, competition is growth, like buying a plant and watching it thrive or slowly wilt—only this time, stakes are a tad higher than just watering the fern.
Public Viewing Alert!
For those who want to soak in all the volleyball action live without any complications, you’re in luck! “Restaurant 24” at Lüneburger Straße 12 in Kirchgellersen is hosting some public viewings. You can catch the match seated comfortably with possibly a side of nachos and a pint. Just don’t forget to register with Anne; she’s the gatekeeper with the guest list!
SVG News Coming Soon
Oh, and here’s a cheeky plot twist: the LüneHünen’s game on December 28th at VC Bitterfeld-Wolfen is moving venues! No longer will it be a close-knit affair—get ready for the spacious Anhalt Arena in Dessau. It’s bigger, better, and who doesn’t love a change of scenery?
Meanwhile, the SVG Lüneburg II doesn’t want to be left behind on this excitement train either—they’ve got their away match against VV Human Essen II lined up. Time to confirm that last victory and inch closer to safety. It’s like ducking under the bar in limbo, folks. Can they do it? Time will only tell!
So there you have it—a glimpse into the unpredictable world of Bundesliga, packed with excitement, challenges, and a sprinkle of drama. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for our heroes! 🏐

LüneHünen is looking forward to the next difficult games
The LüneHünen’s triumphant return to the Champions League was accompanied by a flurry of excitement, but as they now prepare for a grueling series of matches in the Bundesliga, the real tests lie ahead. Their recent streak of seven consecutive victories, primarily against lower-ranked opponents, raises questions about how to assess their current standing. The upcoming challenges, starting with their away game against the Giesen Grizzlys this Saturday at 8 p.m., will be crucial for understanding their true form. A passionate crowd of supporters is expected to travel with the team, while many fans will follow the action via the Dyn livestream.
Confirm the positive development in Giesen
As SVG heads into this highly anticipated northern derby, they may find it advantageous that their Hildesheim rivals recently faced a tough fixture in the Champions League on Wednesday. Although the Grizzlys suffered a 3-0 defeat against Istanbul and played for 35 minutes less, captain Theo Mohwinkel and his teammates achieved a remarkable 3-2 comeback win against Chaumont after trailing 0-2. This victory, particularly impressive given it was secured without star players Blake Leeson and Lorenz Karlitzek, may alleviate some lingering self-doubt over their performance in earlier matches. Such a significant win could serve as a catalyst for greater achievements moving forward.
The Lower Saxony Grizzlys have consistently positioned themselves near the top of the league standings. Despite undergoing some player changes since last season, they have managed to reestablish a strong squad. Presently sitting in 5th place, with only 5 points separating them from SVG, their current ranking may be misleading given that the Grizzlys faced a more challenging start to the season, competing against formidable teams like Berlin, Friedrichshafen, and Düren. Noteworthy victories include a decisive 3-0 win over Friedrichshafen and a narrow 3-2 triumph in Düren, highlighting their resilience amidst internal turmoil, including the unexpected departure of standout diagonal attacker Michiel Ahyi to South Korea and the quick exits of Radoslav Parapunov and Samuel Cooper.
Nonetheless, the Israeli national player Mark Rura, who will turn 19 in January, has emerged as a surprisingly effective replacement in the diagonal attacker role, despite struggling to maintain his peak performance recently. At 2.06 meters tall, Rura often plays in a similar capacity for his national team. The Grizzlys can also rely on the seasoned Hauke Wagner, 37, who has shown impressive form against Lüneburg in the past. Coach Itamar Stein is still searching for an ideal replacement for former star Fedor Ivanov, who has moved on to St. Nazaire, cycling through different players such as Jan Röling and newcomer Nicolas Slight from the USA, while Ethan Champlin has also made a strong impression as an outside player.
Stefan Hübner, Stein’s counterpart, is highly respectful of his northern rival SVG: “We are looking forward to the next great opponent. The framework remains, and they can still play at a high level.” As both teams gear up for a series of challenging matches, Hübner emphasizes the importance of competing against strong opponents as a pathway for further team development. Following their recent success against Chaumont, there was little time for celebration, with the next day dedicated to strength training and video analysis of Giesen.
A Public Viewing event for this match will take place at “Restaurant 24”, located at Lüneburger Straße 12 in Kirchgellersen. Fans can also tune in for the away game in the Champions League on November 20th at 7 p.m. German time, with registrations to be made with Anne Nabel at Tel. 0177-8645128. Additionally, both games will be available for public viewing at the Ochtmisser SV clubhouse on Vogelser Straße 20.
SVG NEWS coming soon
The upcoming Bundesliga away game for the LüneHünen on December 28th against VC Bitterfeld-Wolfen has been relocated from the usual small Bernsteinhalle in Friedersdorf to the Anhalt Arena in Dessau, a larger venue with a capacity of 3,500 spectators. This adjustment also applies to their match against the Berlin Volleys scheduled for February 1st.
For the SVG Lüneburg II, the next away match in the 3rd League West is set for Saturday at 4 p.m. against VV Human Essen II (6th/13 points). With ambitions to build on their recent victory, the Lüneburgers (9th/7 points) will aim to close the gap towards the safety zone.

– What impact does the support from fans have on the LüneHünen’s performance in high-pressure matches like the Northern Derby?
**Interview with LüneHünen Coach Itamar Stein Prior to the Northern Derby Against Giesen Grizzlys**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Coach Stein. With your team’s recent seven-game winning streak, many fans are excited but curious about how you’ve assessed your team’s performance so far. What are your thoughts on those victories against mostly lower-ranked opponents?
**Itamar Stein:** Thanks for having me! It’s true that we’ve had a solid run, and every win is important, of course. But we’re fully aware that the upcoming matches are going to be much tougher. Winning against lower-ranked teams provides a boost, but it also comes with the pressure of maintaining that momentum against stronger opponents. This Saturday’s match against the Giesen Grizzlys will be a true test of our capabilities.
**Editor:** Speaking of the Grizzlys, they recently pulled off an impressive comeback win after trailing 0-2 against Chaumont. Given their resilience, do you consider them a significant challenge for your team?
**Itamar Stein:** Absolutely. The Giesen Grizzlys are known for their fighting spirit, and that comeback proves they can bounce back even when the stakes are high. It’s crucial for us to be prepared for their intensity and unpredictability, especially in a derby match where emotions run high. We’ll need to play our best to secure a win.
**Editor:** You mentioned the pressure. With injuries and player rotations, how do you keep the squad motivated and ready for such challenges?
**Itamar Stein:** Communication is key. I ensure that the players understand our game plan and their individual roles, regardless of who steps in on the court. It’s vital for us to have trust in one another, especially with the young talents like Mark Rura stepping up. His growth is exciting, and I have confidence that he can deliver for us, even if he has his ups and downs.
**Editor:** And let’s talk about the fans. A passionate crowd is expected to travel with your team. How important is fan support in crucial fixtures like this one?
**Itamar Stein:** Fan support is invaluable. They create an atmosphere that inspires players to give their all. Knowing that we have a strong following definitely adds an extra layer of motivation for the guys. We want to put on a show for them, especially in a derby match where pride is on the line.
**Editor:** looking ahead, the venue for your December 28th game has changed to Anhalt Arena. How do you feel about that shift and what it means for the team?
**Itamar Stein:** The move to a bigger venue is exciting. Change can be refreshing, and I believe it can also host more fans, which will amplify the atmosphere. We’re looking forward to that game and hope it will bring us some good fortune as we navigate a crucial part of our season. Thank you!
**Editor:** Thank you, Coach Stein, for your insights. We wish you and the LüneHünen the best of luck in your upcoming matches!
