LUNA Maya and Maxime Bouttier will act together in the film Gundik. Being able to play a film with their own lover certainly makes Luna and Maxime equally enthusiastic.

“Before we were together, we were filmmakers. So when we got the opportunity to produce a title, of course we were enthusiastic,” said Luna Maya in Jakarta.

For Maxime, besides being able to play with his lover, he was also enthusiastic because he was working with Anggy Umbara, who was in the director’s chair.

This is also the latest Indonesian film for Maxime following being involved in the Hollywood film, Ticket to Paradise.

“This is the first feature film to be shown on the big screen following Ticket to Paradise. I am even more enthusiastic to return to the big screen in Indonesia because working with Director Anggy Umbara is something I have wanted to do for a long time,” said Maxime.

“Moreover, the story is very interesting, not just horror. But this film is complete, there is love, family drama, comedy, to gore and terror, which is endless,” he continued.

Apart from Luna Maya and Maxime Bouttier, the film Gundik stars Agus Kuncoro, Ratu Sofya, Rukman Rosadi, Dian Sidik, Arif Didu, Tyo Pakusadewo, Ence Bagus, Yati Surachman, and Cornelio Sunny.

Writer and Director Anggy Umbara also sits on the producer’s chair with Indah Destriana. The basic idea of the film comes from an urban legend that is still very relevant in today’s conditions.

“Humans are sometimes willing to do anything, even eliminating the human side within themselves, in order to gain position, power, and wealth. Then I combined it with the story of the concubine who became a symbol of success in the past, because only those who had a lot of wealth and power might have a concubine,” explained Anggy.

The filming process for the Gundik film will be carried out in July to August, taking locations in Jabodetabek such as the coastal areas around West Java. Gundik is not only a symbol of female beauty, but also a symbol of strength and resistance once morest colonialism.

“Each character has their own greed. The levels are different, the impacts of greed are also different. This is what made us interested in supporting Anggy in making the film Gundik,” said Associate Producer, Shankar R. (Z-1)
