Lula’s plane fails in mid-flight en route to Brazil and forces him to return to Mexico

The Airbus A319 that transported the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvareturning to his country, was forced to return to Mexico City this Tuesday after suffering a “technical problem” in mid-flight.

So it reported the Brazilian Air Force through a statement to which local media had access, and which details that the plane experienced the failure shortly after taking off from Felipe Ángeles International Airport, in Mexico City. This Tuesday, Lula participated in the inauguration ceremonies of the new president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum.

One of the hypotheses of the technical problem, not yet confirmed, is that a bird would have collided with the turbine of the presidential plane. Therefore, it was necessary to return to Mexico City and possibly change aircraft to return to Brasilia.

The Air Force announced that the Brazilian president will remain in Mexico City until he can board another plane that will return him to Brazil.

In addition, he explained that the return to the airport where the Airbus departed had to comply with the case protocols, such as guaranteeing the “necessary fuel consumption” so that it could land at the air terminal.
