Brasilia, Nov 10 (EFE).- The Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, underwent new examinations this Sunday for the blow he suffered in the back of the head three weeks ago and, according to doctors, he no longer has restrictions and can even travel by plane
«He remains symptom-free. The examination showed an improvement in relation to the previous ones and he can maintain his usual activities”, as well as “he has been released for air travel”, according to a bulletin issued by the doctors treating him.
Lula, 79, fell at his official residence on October 19 and suffered a blow to the back of his head, which caused a wound that required five stitches.
Since then he has been under medical observation, although he has gradually resumed his activities and has been working, with some restrictions, at the presidential palace in Brasilia.
One of the doctors’ recommendations was to avoid air travel, but that restriction was lifted this Sunday, so Lula has been released to travel to Rio de Janeiro next weekend and attend the G20 leaders’ summit. which brings together the largest economies in the world and Brazil presides this year.
Due to what the Government called a “domestic accident,” Lula was forced to cancel his attendance at several international events he had on his agenda.
Among them, the summit of the BRICS forum, founded by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, which was held in the Russian city of Kazan, and the UN Summit on Biodiversity (COP16), in the Colombian city of Cali.
Likewise, he suspended his trip to Azerbaijan for the UN Conference on Climate Change (COP29) and the visit he had planned to Peru, for the Leaders Week of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC).

**Interview with Dr. Maria Santos, Medical Expert on Public Health and Political Health**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us, Dr. Santos. We appreciate your insights today. Can you start by giving us an overview of the current health situation of President Lula after his recent examinations?
**Dr. Santos:** Thank you for having me. President Lula underwent a series of medical examinations following an incident where he sustained a blow to the head. While specific details about his condition have not been publicly disclosed, it is crucial that any head injury is taken seriously. Medical professionals typically monitor for symptoms such as concussion or any other underlying issues that may arise.
**Interviewer:** What protocols are typically followed for a head injury, especially for someone in a high-profile position like the president?
**Dr. Santos:** In such cases, immediate evaluation by a healthcare professional is essential. This includes imaging tests such as a CT scan or MRI to rule out any significant injury. Additionally, doctors will monitor cognitive functions, response times, and balance. Given Lula’s role, it’s even more important to ensure he’s fit to carry out his duties without risk to his health.
**Interviewer:** How might this impact his ability to govern? Are there precedents for political leaders dealing with health issues?
**Dr. Santos:** Health issues can certainly impact a leader’s ability to govern effectively. It’s not uncommon for leaders, throughout history, to manage health crises while in office. However, transparency is key. If the public understands his condition and treatment, they are more likely to maintain trust in his leadership. It’s crucial that Lula’s team communicates clearly about his health, especially if there are any changes in his ability to perform his duties.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Dr. Santos. Before we conclude, what advice would you give to the public regarding health awareness, particularly in relation to such incidents?
**Dr. Santos:** I would advise the public to stay informed about health issues and understand the importance of early detection. It’s essential to listen to our bodies and seek medical advice when necessary. We must also remember that our leaders are human, too, and may face health challenges. Supporting them while they manage these challenges can promote a healthier political atmosphere.
**Interviewer:** Thank you for your valuable insights, Dr. Santos. We hope for President Lula’s speedy recovery.
