Plane crashed in Brazil! The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvarequested a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the accident of a passenger plane that crashed this Friday in the city of Vinhedo, in the interior of the state of Sao Paulo.

“First of all, I have some very bad news to give you and I would like everyone to stand up so that we can observe a minute of silence, because a plane has just crashed in the city of Vinhedo, in Sao Paulo,” said the president at the beginning of his speech during an official event. “It seems that everyone has died,” he added.

58 people were travelling on the plane that crashed in Brazil

The aircraft, which was carrying 58 passengers and four crew members, belongs to the Voepass company. It is a turboprop passenger plane, model ATR-72-500, which departed from Cascavel, Paraná state, bound for Guarulhos, in Sao Paulo.

“There is no confirmation yet of how the accident occurred or the current situation of those on board,” Voepass said in a statement. It said it had used “all means to support those involved.”
