The measurement showed that in Chile, the Luksic family ranked first in the 2022 measurement. The fortune of Iris Fontbonamatriarch of the group, was ranked #67 in the ranking, very far from the next Chilean on the list, Julio Ponce Lerou (#822).
The Fontbona-led estate, while moving up the list from last year (#74), went from $23.3 billion in 2021 to $22.8 billion this year. The magazine that compiles the ranking highlights that the Luksics have achieved a relevant economic position thanks to mining and the sale of beverages.
For his part, Ponce Lerou recorded a drop in his fortune from US$4.1 billion to US$3.6 billion. Regarding the past ranking, the man linked to SQM went from position #705 to #822.
Another name that appears on the list is Horst Paulman. The founder of Cencosud maintains his assets of US$3.3 billion and goes from place number #925 to #913 in the ranking of billionaires.
One of the names that also appears is Jean Salata. “A Chilean citizen who has lived and worked in Hong Kong since 1989,” the Forbes description reads. The businessman is currently executive director of Baring and will join the executive committee of the Swedish company EQT, both companies are dedicated to the field of asset management. Salata appeared for the first time in the Forbes ranking in 2020 and today is in position 1,053 with a net worth of US$2.9 billion
For his part, the investor and former president Sebastian Pinera, saw his fortune drop from $2.9 billion to $2.8 billion. The decline in the fortune of the former president’s family meant going from #1,064 to #1,096 in the ranking.
