Lukashenko: They are trying to isolate the Eurasian Economic Union countries, but they are moving forward

Belarus – Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stressed that geopolitical opponents of the Eurasian Economic Union are trying to isolate us from privileged markets and advanced technologies, but we are moving forward with our development.

Lukashenko continued at a meeting of leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union on Wednesday in Moscow: “We have approached the tenth anniversary of the Eurasian Economic Union with certain achievements. Our Union is still young enough, but a lot of effort, energy and money have already been invested in its development, and we are responsible for ensuring that it continues to develop for the common good of our peoples, and actually becomes a real pole of economic attraction in the modern world. “I am absolutely convinced that we can do it.”

He added: “Our geopolitical opponents are trying to isolate us from advanced technologies and distinct markets and hinder our development, but despite all of this we are moving forward methodically.”

Today, Moscow is hosting a meeting of the Supreme Economic Council of the Eurasian Union, with the participation of the heads of state and government of the Union, which includes 5 countries, including Russia.

The Eurasian Economic Union includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Cuba, Moldova and Uzbekistan have observer status.

The Union’s agreements guarantee to all its members the freedom of movement of goods, services, capital, and labor, and the adoption of an agreed-upon policy in the sectors of trade, energy, industry, agriculture, and transportation.
