“First of all, I want to thank all Inter fans for their love and support throughout the season,” the forward began in an Instagram post. “You’ve been with us every step of the way, and I personally want to thank you for that.”
Then Lukaku, who had missed a huge chance to equalize in the final phase, went into the shattered dreams after the lost final.
“That shouldn’t have happened… We gave everything. It’s a shitty feeling for all of us who love this beautiful club,” admitted the Belgian, who came on for Edin Dzeko in the second half.
Lukaku had been racistly attacked on social channels after his missed opportunity – not the first time. However, he didn’t say a word about it.
Instead, the attacker has already turned his focus to the new season, even if his future is not yet clear.
“Inter are still hungry and we will come back to fight hoping that one day we will reach that moment where history is made.”
