Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic returned to team training after missing two weeks due to injury, but is expected to miss Friday’s pre-season game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd stated that Doncic’s performance in practice was very good.

The 25-year-old player is recovering from a left calf injury he suffered during training at the team camp some time ago, which forced him to rest.

“We are happy to see Luka’s progress, he performed very well today. However, we remain careful so that he can fully recover before the regular season starts,” said Kidd.

The Mavericks start the 2024 NBA regular season with a home game against the San Antonio Spurs on October 24.

Apart from Doncic, another key Mavericks player, Kyrie Irving, has also not appeared with Doncic in a preseason game so far.

Meanwhile, Klay Thompson, who is also part of the Mavericks’ trio of key players, has appeared in several pre-season games despite still struggling with back stiffness.

The 34 year old player is expected to quickly return to his best condition ahead of the regular season.

Luka Doncic, who last season was the league’s top scorer with an average of 33.9 points per game, also recorded career highs in assists with 9.8 per game, as well as 9.2 rebounds.

The player who has been selected to the All-NBA First Team five times has averaged 28.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists in 400 games throughout his career. (Ant/Z-6)
