YAUHQUEMEHCAN, Tlaxcala.— Luisa María Alcalde Luján, current Secretary of the Interior (Segob), is the only person who has expressed interest in leading Morena in the next period, reported Mario Delgado Carrillo, national leader of the cherry party.
In a brief interview in Yauhquemehcan, Tlaxcala, after accompanying President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Claudia Sheinbaum, president-elect, in the evaluation of education and sports programs and projects in the entity, the next head of the SEP affirmed that Luisa María Alcalde Luján does not need the endorsement of the head of the federal Executive but of the people.
Mario Carrillo ruled out that the leadership succession process in Morena will produce an internal fracture, but on the contrary “we will emerge very united.”
“Mario, the Morena leadership is about to be renewed. Luisa María Alcalde is shaping up to be the next leader of Morena. Does she already have the president’s endorsement?” he was asked.
“No, we need the support of the militants, of the people,” he replied.
“Could she be the only candidate?” the reporter insists.
“In Morena, the people rule, let’s see, we have to issue a call and we have to see who is most interested,” he replied.
“Has anyone else expressed interest?” he was asked.

During the morning press conference on Thursday the 11th, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador gave a shout-out to the career and work of Luisa María Alcalde, Secretary of the Interior, who has expressed her interest in leading Morena.

He instructed the spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic to distribute the official Morena video for the 2012 presidential campaign, which features a young Luisa María Alcalde.
“Let it be known that this is not propaganda, everyone has the right to participate, but since you ask me, I will give my opinion. If it is you who are guilty, don’t you have a video of him in the truck?” he requested.
Andrés Manuel López Obrador pointed out that the current general secretary, Senator Citlalli Hernández, has also done a good job, but has indicated that she will decline in favor of Luisa María Alcalde Luján.
