Luis Torrens unleashed his power against the Washington Nationals with a pair of home runs

The name of the Venezuelan Luis Torrens highlighted this Wednesday night in the Big leagues. And the Creole slugger became the offensive spark plug of the New York Mets who ended up surpassing with authority the Washington Nationals by 9-1 in the American capital.

The 28-year-old Valencian catcher opened the scoring in the third inning following hitting a thunderous solo home run off pitches from left-hander Patrick Corbin.

Torrens’ powerful swing traveled 398 feet to right field, his first homer of the season and the 20th of his Major League career.

Three episodes later, the Venezuelan once more showed his power with the bat once morest Corbin, but this time to get him out of the stadium through center field.This connection was 404 feet, thus opening the party of hits that ended with a rally of six runs.

Shortly following, Francisco Lindor signed the back to back, while Mark Vientos, Harrison Bader and José Iglesias did their job to drive in the rest of the scores with two singles and a double. In the seventh inning they added one more run with a hit by JD Martínez.

Meanwhile, the Nationals barely crossed the plate in the eighth inning following a sacrifice fly by Joey Gallo.

Torrens went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. It was his first multi-homer game since June 25, 2021, when he was with the Seattle Mariners.
