Luis Sardiñas led the way in Tecolotes de Dos Laredos’ 5-0 victory over Sultanes de Monterrey, in the third game of the Northern Zone final in the Mexican Baseball League (LMB).

The game played on Monday at La Junta Park, located in Nuevo Laredo, was a true pitching duel during the first six innings. However, in the bottom of the seventh inning everything changed.

Sardiñas, who in Venezuela belongs to Caribes de Anzoátegui, came to the batter’s box with the bases loaded and no outs. On a count of three balls and two strikes, he hit a double to left field to sweep the bases and drive in his team’s first three runs.

The infielder then moved to third base on a grounder by Danry Vasquez and scored on a wild pitch for the 4-0 partial. Then fellow Venezuelan Freddy Galvis hit a solo home run to extend the Tecos’ seventh inning rally to five.

Sardiñas finished 2-1 with three RBIs and one run scored, to be among the standouts of the two nations’ ninth.

Tecolotes remains 1-2 down in the final series of the northern zone of Mexican baseball against Sultanes de Monterrey. This Tuesday the fourth match of the series will take place, in the same Parque La Junta, where the birds will seek to tie the match at two victories per side.
