Luis Arce Córdova: Prosecutor’s Office formalizes preparatory investigation against former Supreme Prosecutor and former member of the JNE | POLITICS

The Second Temporary Supreme Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Crimes Committed by Public Officials in charge of Deputy Supreme Prosecutor Bersabeth Revilla, formalized the preparatory investigation once morest the former Supreme Prosecutor and former member of the National Election Jury (ETC), Luis Arce Cordovafor alleged illicit enrichment.

According to judicial documents accessed by El Comercio, on June 21 the prosecution communicated its decision to the Supreme Judge of the Preparatory Investigation Juan Checkley and requested that the former magistrate pay a deposit of S/150,000 to ensure his presence in the process.

In addition, Revilla specified that the impediment to leaving the country remains in force for 18 months once morest Arce Córdova, issued on July 7, 2021. The measure will expire on January 6, 2023.

As recalled, Arce Córdova was implicated in the investigation of the alleged criminal organization “Los Necks Blancos del Puerto” and removed from the position of supreme prosecutor by the National Board of Justice (JNJ) following he declined to continue fulfilling his duties at the JNE.

Impediment and suspension

In the formalization of the preliminary investigation, Arce’s relatives were also included: Nelton Javier Arce Córdova and Wilder Moisés Arce Córdova for the alleged crime of illicit enrichment. Against the latter, who works as a judge in Ucayali, a 24-month suspension from the exercise of the position was requested.

“The representative of the Public Ministry specifies that the applicable term for the preparatory investigation will be eight months, which does not imply that, once the objective of the investigation has been fulfilled, it can be completed earlier,” the document states.

For both, in addition, the prosecution requested the impediment to leave the country for 18 months.

The hearing will be held next Wednesday, July 6 at 10:00 in the morning.
