This Wednesday, October 2, the meeting of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) was held, where the secretary general of the organization, the Uruguayan Luis Almagro, warned that “it is no use condemning if we do not act,” in allusion to the political and human rights crisis in Venezuela after the July 28 elections.

“It is no use for us to condemn torture, forced disappearances and the imprisonment of political prisoners if we do not act so that justice is done in this regard,” Almagro said in reference to everything that has happened after the elections, he reported. RunRunes.

Almagro described the electoral process as “a series of the worst things that can be committed in all its phases.”

On the other hand, Almagro recalled that the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Nicolás Maduro, led by Elvis Amoroso, did not present at the time and has not presented to date any evidence that supports the alleged triumph of Nicolás Maduro.

Carter Center showed evidence

The Carter Center, an American organization that was an electoral observer in the presidential elections in Venezuela, showed this Wednesday before the OAS the “original” voting records that point to the victory of the opponent Edmundo González Urrutia.

During the speech by Jennie Lincoln, senior advisor for Latin America at the Carter Center, she said that they sent her by mail “the original minutes from Venezuela that have a QR code that is significant and that allows witnesses from thousands and thousands of tables to collect information systematically.

However, the CNE maintains that Maduro won re-election in those elections, even though it has not published the minutes with the disaggregated results.

“The lack of transparency of the Venezuelan CNE and its refusal to provide the data from its machine tables and the minutes to explain the declaration of a winner does not meet international standards,” Lincoln said during his speech.
