Lüger come from Montreal and have been active for almost ten years. The band emerged from the Garage Punk Band Jimmy Target & The Triggerswhich upon establishment of Lüger was put on hold. But a lot has stuck to the band’s sound from the old days.

The band still carries the boisterous rock ‘n’ roll and the feeling of the wild youngsters. In addition, Hard Rock and Metal have been mixed, resulting in a wide range of sweaty numbers.

After your debut Hellraisers of the Waste five years ago and the EP Cosmic Horrör 2020 are now included Revelations Of The Sacred Skull nine new numbers on the turntable, rattling out of our speakers for almost three quarters of an hour. The main focus isn’t on sophisticated guitar work and epic vocals, rather the imperfect opposite is the case.

Energetic, dirty surf ‘n’ roll

The Canadians mix the energetic sound with rough, occult lyrics, which also include related topics such as sex, drugs and horror. They’re the prototype band for a street gang demolition party. Lüger don’t come relaxed on bikes down the sun-drenched highway. The band thunders breathtakingly through the drug-infested city and leaves black tracks on the rough asphalt.

Ab the Opener Black Acid it’s clear that dirty energy is the band’s main driving force. Lüger while sucking their juice from bands like Venom, Motörhead and Turbonegro. That what go near show signs of mange, replace Lüger with occult darkness and combine it with punk elements topped by single surf guitar parts.

Zombies at high speed

The album starts with Black Acid, a story regarding a drug dealer and cult leader who turns his followers into willing zombies and seeks ever more power. The story has what it takes to be a beautiful 1970s B-movie, which is further enhanced by the spoken film intro. The song can be used as an introduction to the album HERE listen

Keep boarding Lüger through our ear canals. Motörcity Hellcats is pure energetic rock ‘n’ roll. The party has been sweaty so far and so we lean in Night Of The Serpent Woman go back and listen to the story. But the Canadians just can’t help it and add another bludgeoning part to the song.

The Revelations of the Sacred Skull

Despite the name The Sacred Skull nothing sacred. A siren tells us to take cover for a minute and then shuffling guitars and pounding drums fly in our faces. Not only the lyrical content, but also the way in which Jim Laflamme interpreted the song something by Mercyful Fate on speed.

Filthy Streets pounding forward inexorably like a freight train. The guitars and the beat encourage you to bang along. The bass hits at the beginning of Toxic Sludge a great line out. The song is definitely a grenade live and creates a moshing top.

Between western and horror flair

Viper has a very own feeling. Hopping eerily from one foot to the other, the song moves forward in the style of a classic western. Two minutes of obscure film music can be heard beforehand Lüger with Bloodmoon once more let go of the galloping high speed. In the first half, the guitars shred, the vocals squabble and the drums thrash. Then a hard break and the song viciously struts towards the end.

The name of the bouncer The Rise Of Witchcraft. A slow 3/4 bar paired with ominous keyboard sounds gear the song towards doom with horror flair. Song and lyrics set the darkness to music. No surf guitars have fun cause there’s only room for a dark ending. A plaintive head voice sounds in the chorus and background. Maybe here secretly King Diamond sneaked into the studio. But if not, then at least his spirit was present in the composition.

Conclusion
Lüger
beat us up Revelations Of The Sacred Skull the pure dirty energy around your ears. The band doesn’t reinvent anything, but shines as they oscillate between rock ‘n’ roll, snotty beating and horror rock. A truly colorful mixture of delicious chocolates with guaranteed toxic ingredients. 8 / 10
