According to a media report, the airline Eurowings, on behalf of all Lufthansa subsidiaries, is demanding compensation totaling 740,000 euros from climate activists of the “last generation” because of their blockades at several German airports. Some of the accused have already been sent payment requests, reports the newspaper “Bild am Sonntag”.

Transport Minister Volker Wissing announced in the previously published article that he would advocate for the aviation security law to be tightened in view of the incidents. He agreed on this with Justice Minister Marco Buschmann, also FDP.

“Blockades of airports with the aim of disrupting operations there far exceed the limits of legitimate protest. These are not trivial crimes either,” Wissing is quoted as saying in “Bild am Sonntag”. An increase in punishment should come as quickly as possible.
