The prospects for a summer with low incidence values are good – and many vacations are being booked. This is reported by Lufthansa and TUI. For some countries there are three times as many bookings as before Corona.

Against the background of the signs of relaxation in the Corona measures, the tour operator TUI and the largest German airline, Lufthansa, are currently registering strong booking figures for the coming holiday season.

Lufthansa board member Harry Hohmeister told the “Bild am Sonntag” that the group is currently seeing a “strong increase in demand for holiday flights for Easter, Whitsun and also for the summer”. The desire to travel is great and there is an “enormous amount of catching up to do following two years of the pandemic”.

As a result, Lufthansa added extra flights from Frankfurt am Main to Palma de Mallorca, Faro on the Algarve, Madeira and Larnaka on Cyprus to its range. Bookings on individual tourist routes in Europe are three times as high as before the pandemic, said Hohmeister. The use of a jumbo jet with 350 seats for Mallorca flights is also planned due to the high demand.

Again all partner hotels on Mallorca

TUI also reports developments at the pre-crisis level. According to the report, the organizer is offering all of the around a thousand partner hotels in Mallorca for the first time since the beginning of Corona. Germany boss Stefan Baumer told “Bild am Sonntag” that the “longing for sun and sea” is currently also stimulating short-term demand for the Mediterranean.

On Friday, our first own planes took off for Mallorca once more – four weeks earlier than in previous years,” TUI Germany boss Stefan Baumer told the newspaper. Greece is also particularly in demand at the moment. “Before the pandemic, we had around 2 across the 8 million guests on the islands of the Aegean, we expect over three million holidaymakers this year.”
