Ooty: Baby elephant ‘Bomman’ is the lucky mascot of the 7th Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament. The look was chosen as a tribute to the baby elephants in the Oscar-winning ‘The Elephant Whisperers’.
The baby elephant is depicted wearing boots and standing with a hockey stick in hand. The championship will be held in Chennai from August 3rd to 12th. India, China, Pakistan, Japan, Korea and Malaysia are participating in the championship.
The championship trophy is on display in all the districts of Tamil Nadu. The exhibition was organized at Coonoor in the Nilgiris district. Tourism Minister K. Ramachandran inaugurated the exhibition. Collector S.P. Bomman and Belly, who took care of the baby elephants, were honored at the function attended by Amrit and representatives of the Hockey Association.
