Intensity has always been a feature that permeated the lives of Virtuous gutta. Decided on her goals, that’s how she opted to leave Santos, the coastal city where she was born and lived with her family until she was 18, to fulfill her dream of studying fashion in São Paulo.
The father was once morest his departure, wanted his daughter close by and was even thrilled when a local university opened a course in this area. He ended up choosing industrial design, which was not available there, and thus he would have no excuses. Convinced of her wishes, the young woman packed her bags and went to the capital to plan her journey.
He graduated in fashion design, marketing and interior design, and worked at the offices of major brands, such as Restoque (now Veste), Bo.Bô and Pedro Lourenço. This baggage was the boost she needed to fulfill another dream, that of having her own collection.
A Cine 732the first private label with partner Luciana Conde, was created in 2014 and brought the opportunity to imprint its DNA on creations, which followed a more pop line, with a portfolio of accessories made of metal and resin.
One of the summer collections, for example, was inspired by the manifestation and representation of the word afoxéwhich is in line with his faith and inspires, to this day, many of his works.
“If you are not very sure of yourself, even more so when you are exposed on the networks, you end up losing what you really are.”

With the closure of the brand and some wear and tear with the fashion universe, Guta arrived at a professional moment when she needed to recalculate her route. “I took a break from social media, because I went into depression. Now, I’m coming back little by little, I’ve been doing fashion and decoration collabs, and consulting for brands”, details the designer, who uses the internet as a tool to promote her collections of accessories, such as the one she launches this month in partnership with Santonína (used in this editorial).
“Today, I prefer to do this part more of analysis, of turning my gaze to things I love, which are smaller brands, of manual processes, and seeing them grow. I think that’s what I carry both here at home and in my lifestyle.”
SHE DOESN’T WALK ALONE
It was during this period of emotional instability that Guta became more attached to her faith, something so visible in her home. “During the pandemic, the Umbanda house I attend was closed, and I concluded that I needed to rescue this connection within me. If you’re not very sure of yourself, even more so when you’re exposed on the networks, you end up losing what you actually are. I even asked myself, ‘Am I this? Or is it just what they’re talking regarding? Who am I in the bread line?’ I think that faith was important for me and it is still a process of resumption.”
Figs, bunches, amulets, books on spirituality and drawings full of meaning transform the 110m2 house into Guta’s private sanctuary. On the ceiling, the resident asked artist Estéfano Hornhardt for a painting that represented her.
“Don’t mess with me, I don’t walk alone” (in reference to the songs “Carta de Amor”, by Maria Bethânia, and “Tempo Rei”, by Gilberto Gil) were the words chosen to accompany the figure of a jaguar on the wall — animal that prints one of his tattoos.
“When I returned to this apartment, I had a feeling of going backwards, I didn’t want that. It was something I needed to reframe.”

Another symbol of her belief, which has belonged to her since before she was born, is a figure of Cosimo and Damião. “I was born on the 28th of September and, before that, a girl told my mother that I would be born on the day of these saints, which would be on the 27th, I ended up delaying it a little (laughter). But my mother went out telling everyone regarding this fact, and she won the image, that is, she is over 37 years old”, says the designer.
Wanting to create a house worthy of Cosme and Damião, Guta turned to Niteroi artist Lorena Moreira, who chose one of the unique pieces from the “Super Barroco” line, with hand-painted reliquaries in acrylic paint. Lorena is also the creator of the monochrome panel in blue, located in the living room, coloring the corner of the office.
The apartment in São Paulo has witnessed several moments in Guta’s life. In space, she lived alone, with her brothers and, more recently, was her place of resumption following a broken engagement.
“When I came back here, I had this feeling of going backwards, and I didn’t want that. It was something that needed to be re-signified,” says the resident.
It was in the search for this new meaning that he brushed pieces of his experiences in space. “I decided to change the whole configuration: I opened the kitchen, the living room, the bedroom… As my brothers are not attached to decoration, the house always had my face, but when I was young, it had a Tiffany green wall (laughter), so I looked for things that made sense for this moment in life.”
In the absence of a balcony or a view (taken over by the wall of the neighboring building), Guta sought liveliness through other elements. “I thought I should bring it here in another way: a color on the ceiling, joy in objects and in everything that represented my style — and I never stop.” If it depends on good energies, new projects will not be lacking out there.
