“Luck” puts an end to Verstappen’s control… and a new driver tastes the flavor of victory in Formula 1

United States – Englishman Lando Norris, driver of the McLaren team, achieved a historic achievement by winning the Miami Grand Prix, Formula 1 car races, on Monday evening.

Lando Norris took first place from Dutch star Max Verstappen, driver of the Red Bull team, to put an end to his successive victories in the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship races.

Max Verstappen was on his way to his fifth victory in six races this season and the third in Miami in a row, before an accident occurred that allowed the McLaren team to take advantage of the safety car period and let Norris enter the pit lane, and he was lucky and came out in the lead.

Immediately after the race resumed, the Dutch star chased the leader, Norris, but was unable to catch up with the Englishman.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc came in third place, ahead of his Spanish teammate Carlos Sainz.

Lando Norris, 24 years old, achieved his first victory in the championship, beating Verstappen, the three-time world champion.

The British driver had achieved the record for the number of times he had been on the podium without any victory, 15 times, including 8 races in which he finished in second place out of 110 Grand Prix races in which he participated.

Max Verstappen, despite finishing the race in second place, retained the lead in the overall standings of the Formula 1 World Championship, with 136 points, 35 points ahead of his closest pursuer and teammate, Mexican Sergio Perez, who came fifth in the Miami Grand Prix.
