Two weeks following being found guilty of “homicide qualified by the link, treachery and cruelty” for the murder of Lucio Dupuy, the baby’s mother, Magdalena Esposito Valenti and your partner, Abigail Peacethey are already suffering “the sentence” of the harsh prison environment: shortly following having arrived at the Penitentiary Complex No. 1 of San Luis They were severely beaten by other inmates, which is why they had to be isolated. Meanwhile, this Friday the Pampas court made up of judges Andrés Olié, Daniel Sáez Zamora and Alejandra Ongaro will announce the sentence for both women for the crime, which might be life imprisonment.
As happened in the case of the announcement of the ruling that ended up determining the guilt of Espósito Valenti and Páez, the judicial hearing will be broadcast live from Santa Rosa, and it was indicated that the two convicted women will not attend that reading, since they will remain in the puntana jail.
It should be noted that Lucio’s mother and her partner were initially detained in a Pampean police station, where they had already suffered episodes of violence and for this reason they were transferred to the prison complex in the neighboring province of San Luis. However, the panorama inside the walls did not change, and as soon as they met other inmates, Espósito Valenti and Páez were beaten, for which reason the authorities of that detention center had to order that they be isolated, so that the punishments would not be even greater.
Who is Ana Clara Pérez Ballester, the judge who gave Lucio Dupuy’s mother custody?
Apart from the sentences that will be announced this Friday, the lawyer for Lucio’s father and grandfather, doctor Mario Aguerrido, will appeal the decision not to sentence Espósito Valenti as also responsible for the sexual abuse of the minor, an accusation that the judges considered proven only in the case of Páez. “We are going to appeal that part of the ruling, because we consider that Espósito Valenti is also responsible for these abuses,” the lawyer said. Prosecutors Verónica Ferrero, Walter Martos and Marcos Sacco will also appeal this sentence, demanding that Esposito also be convicted of outrageous sexual abuse.
The sentences in the Lucio Dupuy case have already suffered two postponements, it was finally going to be announced on February 13, but it was left for this Friday, always at the Santa Rosa courthouse. “We don’t expect anything other than a life sentence,” said the Dupuy family lawyer. This Friday the final decision of the judges will be known.
