It was the shocking moment of the Alpine ski season so far. In Sölden, Lucas Braathen tearfully announced the end of his career before the start of the World Cup. At the age of 23, he had had enough of the association and sport. The Norwegian Slalom World Cup winner from last year felt “finally free once more,” said Braathen at the time. For the Austrians, the shooting star was the face of the brand together with Mikaela Shiffrin. Both parties worked together for years. Possible comeback?
The race director revealed that they have numerous ideas for further collaboration. “Lucas embodies an incredible number of facets. Because he knows fashion very well, he might design clothes for us. We might also use him as a model. But I haven’t given up hope that one day he will return to the World Cup tour as a racing driver.”
However, one shouldn’t assume this in the near future, at least says Höflehner. “At the moment Lucas isn’t thinking regarding ski racing at all. During a phone call he explained to me that he now wanted to visit all his relatives. But I hope that he will really feel like racing once more as soon as he puts on his skis once more or sees the Alpine broadcasts on TV.”
