Luanda Negotiations: Senator Faustin Luanga calls on the DRC to engage in dialogue with the M23-AFC coalition

The security crisis in the eastern part of the DRC – Democratic Republic of Congo – is only getting worse, with the advance of the RDF/M23-AFC coalition, at a time when a ceasefire should be observed, and this situation is giving national opinion food for thought.

During his recent media appearance, Senator Faustin Luanga highlighted the question of “what is the DRC really negotiating?”, based on the logic that when you negotiate, you do not get what you want, but what you negotiate.

This elected official further points out that the negotiation issue that is currently arising is delicate insofar as “when negotiating, we must know if we are doing it with whom”.

In this case, he said, the DRC delegation said it was negotiating with Rwanda, not with the M23-AFC coalition.

“It is good to name Rwanda, but we should also take into account those who operate on the ground, the M23-AFC coalition,” he stressed.

According to the senator, stopping only at accusing them of crimes pushes them to extremism in order to achieve their goals, that is, to take back what they claim to demand.

He, however, recommended that the Congolese government involve the “intelligence” that the country has in this negotiation process, in order to find a solution to the security situation, which is only getting worse.
