Die combined effect of all five risk factors explains 57.2 percent of cardiovascular risk in women and 52.6 percent in men. However, it is pointed out that around 45 percent of the world’s cardiovascular diseases cannot be explained by the traditional risk factors alone. This requires further research.
The study emphasizes that people with high blood pressure are also particularly at risk. Higher blood pressure or cholesterol levels are associated with an increased likelihood of developing cardiovascular disease. The importance of these risk factors decreases with increasing age. For example, high blood pressure affects 40-year-olds more than 80-year-olds.
