LH Deputy Pernkopf: Our regional shops are the culinary identity of our homeland

St. Polten (OTS/NLK) Food from the region is of high quality and produced in an environmentally friendly way. In addition, they contribute to the added value in the country. The culinary initiative “Lower Austria tastes like this” took this as an opportunity and, for the third time, set out in a competition to find the best regional shops in the country. “The operators make it easier for many farmers to sell regional food. They contribute to the culinary identity of our homeland and make an important contribution to the local supply in the regions. I would like to congratulate all winners on the award,” says LH-Stv. Stephen Pernkopf.

90 grocers, farm shops, self-service huts, ab-yard rooms, in short regional shops from all over Lower Austria have registered for the competition. After an evaluation process and an online public vote with 9,200 votes cast, an expert jury made its decision. The choice fell on five regional shops with service and five self-service shops in Lower Austria’s four districts and central Lower Austria. The winners will be awarded a certificate and a plaque for their regional shop. You will also receive a year’s supply of material from “Lower Austria tastes like this” and a photo shoot for your regional shop.

“The award-winning regional shops are representative of all the innovative and quality-oriented businesses that have the well-being of their customers as their top priority. On the website www.soschmecktnoe.at you can find all the shops. It is highly recommended to take a look at it before your next purchase,” says Christa Ruspeckhofer, head of the culinary initiative “Lower Austria tastes like this”.
