On June 21, 2015, Le Pic opened its doors for the first time. Seven years later, the adventure of this restaurant like no other is over. It all starts when Julie, from Aveyron, meets Laurent, from Basque. It’s love at first sight. Without really knowing why or how, the couple visited a commercial building, avenue du Pic du Ger. Immediately, Laurent sees the potential of the place and the exteriors. Julie is already imagining her restaurant, twenty years following training to open a tea room. “For my 40th birthday, Laurent took me to the Basque Country a few days following visiting the house. I was already in love with him, I fell in love with the tapas and the professional project became obvious. We visited in August , traveled to the Basque Country in September and December we signed the lease. After six months of work we opened, surrounded by our friends and families.
A place of sharing
Nearly 600 people came for the premiere of the Pic” remembers Julie.
Today, sitting on a pallet, she contemplates her soulless garden. The garlands, tables, chairs were sold during the empty restaurant (September 4 and 5). “We are proud to have succeeded in creating a place of life, sharing, meeting and intergenerational. People were faithful to us until the end and even for this empty restaurant. We had more than 300 people on Sunday! has helped young restaurateurs who are setting up to equip themselves and then others have come to get a piece of the Pic to keep at home. It’s a pleasure…” smiles Julie.
Despite the sadness of putting an end to this adventure, Julie’s gaze remains as sparkling. “We love people too much to stop and what they bring us in return is too strong. Afterwards, where will it be…” The green parenthesis closes. This place of celebration will be missing in the Muretain landscape and now leaves room for the development of the area.
