Outaouais: 16.6% of healthcare employees vaccinated once morest the flu – TVA Gatineau

Juliette Babin | January 19, 2024

Less than one in five people in Outaouais recently rolled up their sleeves to get vaccinated once morest the flu. This also includes health personnel, despite the recent call from Public Health to reduce pressure on emergencies.

We learn that 16.6% of healthcare employees in Outaouais have recently been vaccinated once morest the flu. A rate that satisfies the CISSSO.

This vaccination rate, however, worries Jacques Lapierre, responsible for producing the influenza vaccine for 30 years.

For its part, the CISSSO defends itself and specifies that health workers are not required to identify themselves as such at the time of vaccination, which might result in certain vaccinated workers not being counted.

Among the Canadian population, approximately 17% have been vaccinated once morest influenza, or 2% less than the Quebec average.

According to Mr. Lapierre, vaccination is one of the only effective tools to protect once morest the disease. As for the COVID-19 vaccine, since September 29, 16% of Outaouais residents have received a new dose. Data that the CISSSO considers satisfactory.
