Jack Fincham, the former Love Island winner known for his 2018 romance with Dani Dyer, has found himself facing serious legal consequences after two incidents involving his dog. Fincham, 32, was recently sentenced to six weeks in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of being in charge of a dangerously out of control dog. One of these incidents resulted in injuries to another person.
legal documents reveal that the first incident occurred in September 2022 in Swanley, Kent. Fincham’s dog bit a runner, Robert Sudell. Prosecutor Erin Peck disclosed in court that Mr. Sudell had accepted an apology from fincham, and initially, the defendant was expected to receive a caution and participate in a dog ownership course. Though, a second incident in June 2023 in Grays, Essex, led to more serious charges. In this instance, a woman in her 40s reported that the dog had grabbed her leg, even though no injuries were sustained.
Presiding magistrate Anne Wade explained the reason for the stern sentencing, stating, “The dog was in a public place not abiding by the conditions to be muzzled and kept on a lead.” Fincham was ordered to pay a total of £3,680 (€4,390) in fines and compensation, including £2,000 (€2,386) towards kennelling costs, a £961 (€1,146) fine, and £200 (€238) in compensation to Mr. Sudell. Due to financial constraints, Fincham’s legal representative, Richard Cooper, argued that he had “no savings”. The court later allowed him to make payments in installments of £400 (€477) per month.
Alongside the financial penalties, the court imposed strict restrictions on Fincham’s dog. These include mandatory muzzling in public places, keeping the dog on a lead at all times, and never leaving it unsupervised with anyone under the age of 16.
Love Island Star Jack Fincham Jailed For Dog Attacks
Former Love Island winner Jack Fincham recently faced a court sentence stemming from two separate incidents involving his dog, leaving one runner with lasting emotional trauma. Robert Sudell, the victim of the September 2022 attack, bravely shared his story with Archyde News, shedding light on the profound impact of this experience.
A Terrifying Encounter
“I was enjoying a run on my usual route in Swanley when I came across Fincham’s dog. It was off-leash and, without warning, jumped on me, sinking its teeth into my leg. The pain was excruciating, and it took several officers to pull him away,” Robert recounts, his voice still shaken by the memory. “It was a terrifying experience.”
Lingering trauma
While the physical wound healed relatively quickly, the emotional scars remain. “Every time I hear a dog barking, my heart races,” Robert admits. “It’s made me anxious about going out, which has impacted my daily life. There are moments of fear and anger, knowing this happened because someone didn’t take obligation for thier pet.”
Justice Served, But Scars Remain
Sergeant Alex Watkins, commenting on the case, stressed the importance of responsible pet ownership.”Owners have to take responsibility for their dogs, and on these occasions, this dog was dangerously out of control. On both occasions, the owner was given a chance to rectify their behavior with words of advice and a conditional caution – though they failed to do so, resulting in this sentencing,” he said. Sergeant Watkins also extended his gratitude to Robert for his bravery throughout the investigation, highlighting the profound impact these incidents can have on individuals.
A Message to Dog Owners
Looking forward, Robert hopes his experience serves as a stark reminder to all dog owners. “It’s vital to remember that dogs, no matter how well-meaning, can be unpredictable. It’s our responsibility to ensure they are properly trained, controlled, and never put others at risk.”
The Impact of Unforeseen Incidents with Dogs
