Serving the government since 2006, Louis Morisset has made a significant contribution to shaping the framework of Québec’s financial sector. After joining the AMF as Superintendent of Securities Markets, Louis Morisset was appointed CEO of the AMF for an initial 5-year term in July 2013, then once more in 2018 for his current term.
“I am convinced that we have come a long way since 2013 and that our great organization now occupies a very important place at the heart of Quebec’s financial ecosystem. I gave my best in all these years and I am very satisfied and proud of what we have achieved together,” he said.
“After careful consideration, I have concluded that the time has now come for me to consider leaving to someone else the responsibility of leading the Authority to new heights”, added Louis Morisset, who will undertake a reflection on his professional future at the end of his mandate.
Quebec Finance Minister Eric Girard praised the work of Louis Morisset. “I would like to highlight Mr. Morisset’s significant contribution to the Quebec financial sector. Over the past 10 years, the Autorité des marchés financiers has benefited from its rigor and sense of government to meet the challenges related to changes in the financial sector. I thank him for his dedication to making industry practices safer, respectful and sustainable. »
For his part, the Chairman of the AMF’s Board of Directors, Robert Panet-Raymond, said: “I would like to warmly thank Louis for his commitment and his immense contribution over the years. He will leave an indelible mark within the AMF and his leadership will have enabled the AMF to evolve towards a role with greater added value for the consumer and the industry and to achieve unprecedented influence at the local level, national and international. His vision and determination also made it possible to put in place a solid senior management team that will ensure the continuity of a legacy of which he can be proud. »
