The new MMORPG Lost Ark has been extremely successful in recent weeks. Unfortunately, this also brings problems. One of the biggest is the amount of bots that just doesn’t seem to stop. We at MeinMMO summarize.
What is the situation in Lost Ark? The game got off to an extremely strong start, attracting over 1.3 million fans to the MMORPG at the same time. Even weeks later, Lost Ark still makes a good impression, but is struggling with problems.
But the one million banned bots were followed by more than two million new ones, if some players on reddit are to be believed. The exact numbers are pure speculation, the only thing that is certain is that Lost Ark is currently being overrun by bots.
The situation gets worse: Initially, only the starting areas were massively affected by the bot problem, which meant that the community didn’t really get it. Many users of the forums and the sub-Reddit are already in the endgame and have therefore not noticed anything regarding bots for a long time.
But now more and more bots are also reaching level 50 and farming the Chaos Dungeons there, where you can get hold of valuable upgrade materials that you need to improve your equipment.
This is already noticeable in the price of the materials, because the upgrade mats for the first tier have now fallen significantly in price. This is not only due to the bots, as more and more real players are reaching T1 and more, but it is quite conceivable that the bots also play a part in this prize.
Scenes like these are not uncommon, but everyday life in Lost Ark:
The bots are a problem for all players
Why are you so angry? There are several reasons for this. On the one hand, the area chat becomes virtually unusable due to a large number of bots. The automated chat logs completely spam the areas with dubious gold offers. A normal exchange between players is often difficult.
On the other hand, the sheer number of bots has made it more difficult and annoying to play new characters even at level 50. This is especially daunting for brand new players. You often have to duel with bots for certain monsters that you need to complete quests.
You usually lose these duels because the bots often use some kind of speed or teleport hack. The new player experience suffers greatly from the bots.
What bothers in the endgame? Since many of the automated characters have now reached endgame as well, the farce doesn’t stop once they reach Vern. On the contrary, it will only get worse. Because in the Lost Ark endgame, group content is relevant.
Many players report in the sub-Reddit that the game automatically throws them together with bots, which turn out to be useless comrades-in-arms in the raid. In Chaos Dungeons, too, you often get bots on your team if you play them via automatic matchmaking.
So the bots have been a problem in Lost Ark since release, since they reached endgame, but the situation is escalating completely and making life in Arkesia difficult for many fans.
“Any new player will quit immediately”
How is the community reacting? This varies greatly and goes to various extremes. While many fans get very upset regarding the bots, some try to just take it with humor. Some even seek creative ways to capture these bots.
But even if you joke and have a lot of sarcasm, the situation is difficult for all players who want to spend time in the MMORPG on a regular basis. Many are also bothered by Amazon’s reaction, which, apart from the large wave of bans, has so far apparently done little once morest the bots (via reddit).
- User rigsta wrote: “I can’t even begin to imagine what the experience is like for new players. […] IN the early areas there are now undoubtedly more bots than real players.”
- TheKingsDM is also disappointed: “I’m leveling a new character with my son and we constantly have to fight over quests with teleporting Berserkers. It’s so stupid, every new player will quit immediately.”
- KingCPB writes: “The bot situation is getting worse. Some already appear in raids and PvP matches. Once bots reach rated PvP matches, the game will lose the entire PvP community.”
How is Amazon reacting? There are always smaller and larger waves of bans from Amazon. Also, in an update, they’ve already removed some gold revenue streams from the early game in hopes of discouraging bots from botting at all.
They promise to keep working on the problem, taking action once morest the bots and coming up with more tactics.
