Loss of hair and libido, the list of long-term Covid-19 symptoms is growing

If for some the coronavirus is like a week of aches and fever, for others the disease rhymes with several months of ordeal. In fact, some people retain symptoms for several months, such as loss of taste or smell, but not only. In effect, here we have listed the most common long-term symptoms. We might notably cite muscle pain or respiratory disorders, but this list would actually be much longer.

In fact, researchers at the University of Birmingham, UK, have just determined that there are 62 common symptoms of long Covid. Among these, two new symptoms have drawn attention: loss of hair and libido. To reach these conclusions, the researchers analyzed the medical records of 2.4 million anonymous Britons who contracted the coronavirus.

“This research validates what patients have been telling clinicians throughout the pandemic that the symptoms of long Covid are extremely broad. The symptoms we have identified should help improve the assessment of patients suffering from the effects term of Covid-19, and to consider the best way to manage these symptoms”explained Dr. Shamil Haroon, one of the authors of the study, published in the scientific magazine Nature Medicine this Monday, July 25.
