Loss against Brynäs | Play sand

Now the 2023/24 season has started in earnest for the blue and white women’s team. Tonight they played their first training match, this time Brynäs stood, the opposition stood.
– This was our first match, so much was about getting into the groove. It was especially noticeable in the first period, then we held back a little, said Ella Lindmark after the match.

Brynäs took the lead

It was 1-0 to Brynäs after that opening period and even though the blue and whites got into the game more and more, it was the Gävle team that scored the goals. After two periods played, it was 2–0 and when the match was over, that lead had been extended to 5–0.
– We settle down a bit there in the third period and get some unfortunate sending offs against us.
What makes Brynäs a difficult opponent?
– They are where they should be and they put the passes on the tape. Today they also had a good powerplay game and find those cross passes through the middle.

“We got off to a better start”

But Ella Lindmark also thinks that there are things to be happy about in the blue and white game. Because even if you didn’t score any goals, you still created a lot of chances.
– It felt like we started better and better, but the puck didn’t bounce our way tonight. I think we kept them on the outside really well in our own zone, then we need to be on them even more when they are in our zone and attack.
What do you think of your own effort?
– Absolutely fine. I tried to skate a lot and cheer the team on. I’m often very self-critical, but I think I did just fine tonight.

Highlights Kruse Johansen and Maloney

Which of your teammates do you want to highlight after this game?
– Emilie Kruse Johansen was asbra tonight. And Shay Maloney was really good too. They both created many scoring chances.
Now one more training match awaits, one against Djurgården. On September 13, the puck is finally released in the SDHL. Leksand starts the series by playing against SDE away from home.
– I’m longing! The series would love to be able to start tomorrow.
