Loss: a promising Lithuanian artist died suddenly Culture

“Unexpectedly, we lost a very hardworking and creative colleague Andrias Grigalaitis. Condolences to the family and relatives,” the LDS Šiauliai branch’s Facebook account reads.

A. Grigalaitis recently lived and worked in Vilnius.

In his biography, it is written that he graduated from Šiauliai University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Audiovisual Arts, and in 2014 at Vytautas the Great University with a Creative Industries study program.

A. Grigalaitis’ creative activity combines the fields of communication, photography and video art. In his works he analyzes aspects of isolation, ignorance and loneliness.

​Since 2007 participated in various group exhibitions, organized several personal exhibitions. In 2011, the artist was awarded the Šiauliai City Municipality Young Artist Scholarship, in 2012 – the Ministry of Culture Award for the best prepared and implemented cultural education projects for children and youth.

His photo cycle in 2020. “Mist.” Other worlds” was among the finalists (shortlist) of the competition “Sony World Photography Awards” in the landscape category.​​

From 2021 A. Grigalaitis was a member of the Union of Lithuanian Artists.

A. Grigalaitis’s Facebook account says:

Come say goodbye to Andrew on the 4th of July. (this Thursday), from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home “Nukrakusi styga” (hall 1), at Đžuolyno str. 10, Vilnius.

We would very much like to ask you not to bring flowers, because Andrius will be cremated, and the ashes will be scattered in his most beloved places. Instead of donations, bring only the most beautiful memories.”
