The Governor of the Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh, commented on the issue of losing cancer drugs, saying that “this issue is being followed up by the Ministry of Health and taken a decision on it,” noting that “the sale of these drugs at the price of 1500 is still valid according to the minister’s instructions.”
Salameh explained, in an interview with “LBCI”, that “the total bills in the Banque du Liban that have not been paid amount to 273 million dollars, to be paid in fresh dollars gradually.”
He added, “Another 82 million dollars must be paid in Lebanese pounds according to the exchange rate of Sayrafa. The total arrears amount to 355 million dollars.”
Salameh indicated, “If there are invoices, they must be with the banks and they have not yet been sent to the Banque du Liban, stressing that this is the normal pattern of payments in the past years, and the prior approval was signed by the minister and can be consulted in this regard.” As he put it.
