On Monday morning, several narcomantas signed by ‘Los Chapitos’ were found in the state of Sinaloa, prohibiting the sale of fentanyl. In this regard, the attorney general, Sara Bruna Quiñónez, indicated that the messages are directed to the Government headed by Rubén Rocha Moya.

Given the questions regarding what happened on October 2, the prosecutor pointed out that investigations are already being carried out into the placement of these tarps, so if necessary, the corresponding investigation folders will be opened to determine responsibilities.

When asked if the blankets were sent to the Government of Sinaloa, Bruna Quiñónez responded affirmatively. “Of course it is directed at us,” she stated before local media, without her disclosing the reasons why these messages were sent to the authorities of said entity.

Under this tenor, he ruled out the sale of fentanyl in its raw material in Sinaloa, although he acknowledged that the deadly synthetic opioid can be found once processed.

“Fentanyl as a raw material for the drug is not being sold, it has not been found; is being processed. It is an issue that we do not handle directly”

For his part, the head of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP), Gerardo Mérida Sánchez, mentioned that no complaint was received to 911 due to these events. In that sense, he noted that a rebound in violent events is not expected in the entity. .

In the municipalities of Culiacán, Mazatlán, Guamúchil and Ahome, blankets signed by “Los Chapitos” were found, the faction of the Sinaloa Cartel that is headed by the children of Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán.

The content of the messages had to do with the prohibition of the sale of fentanyl in Sinaloa, in an attempt to distance itself from its production and distribution, as seen in the images that were shared on social networks by the media Los Noticieristas.

“Due to the incessant misinformation from some media outlets and the government’s obvious omission in not investigating and prosecuting the true culprits of this epidemic, in Sinaloa the sale, manufacturing, transportation or any type of business that involves the substance known as fentanyl, including the sale of chemicals for its production,” the blankets read.

In the final part of the message, Los Chapitos assured that they have never been nor will they be “affiliated with that business.” If the warnings were not followed, they announced that there would be consequences.

This is not the first time that Guzmán Loera’s children have sought to distance themselves from fentanyl trafficking. At the beginning of May, a letter supposedly written by Los Chapitos was released in which they reiterated that they had never worked with the synthetic opioid.

“We have never knowingly established relationships with people who traffic fentanyl,” read the letter that was attributed to Jesús Alfredo, Iván Archivaldo, Joaquín and Ovidio Guzmán (the latter was extradited to the United States for his alleged involvement in the drug traffic).
