Police are searching for the driver of a Tesla Model S that went several feet into the air before colliding with another car in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. It shouldn’t be a difficult feat to get the $1,000 offered by the Los Angeles Police Department, considering the video has been posted on YouTube and shows multiple angles of the incident.
I know exactly what you want to see, so without further ado, here is the video:
The video was shot by motoring youtuber Alex Choi, who starts off by saying that it was an incredibly stupid stunt that might have caused people to die.
Choi was hosting a gathering of Teslas in Los Angeles when a “random guy” offered to show him the spot where David Dobrik blew up his Tesla and then proceeded to do a jump himself “without warning.”
As reported Fox 5 San Diego:
The LAPD said a driver of a leased 2018 Tesla Model S, originally identified as a Tesla S-BLM, performed a dangerous stunt near the intersection of Baxter and Alvarado streets around 12:10 a.m. Video shows that The Tesla was heading toward an intersection at high speed when it suddenly took off and landed hard on its front wheels.
The vehicle then crashed into several garbage cans and two parked cars, the LAPD said.
The driver of the Tesla abandoned the car and fled the scene.
Choi also recorded the followingmath of the accident, with debris strewn everywhere and various people trying to clean up the mess. It appears that someone removed the license plates from the car before they might film the Tesla up close.
G/O Media may get a commission
The LAPD says it has received multiple leads as to the identity of the driver, someone who goes by the TikTok handle @dominykas or DurteSun. That person even came to post a video with the message “Al LAPD didn’t like my stunt.” He also labeled Gassy, a brand of candies infused with THC.
It remains to be seen whether DurteDom is really the person behind it steering wheel or just seeks to take advantage ridiculous news in exchange for clicks, since the LAPD is still conducting their investigation. But I think there is no need to clarify: don’t make your jump Tesla, especially if rented, and especially where you can cause harm to other people or to other vehicles.
