Los Angeles Dodgers Remain Atop National League West Despite Preseason Doubts

The Los Angeles Dodgers were not called to lead their division, according to MLB preseason forecasts.

But despite the defeat they suffered on Thursday in the Major Leagues, those led by Dave Roberts remain in the vanguard position of the National League West.

That will lead the Dodgers to make big moves toward the middle of the season, when one — or more — of these players has to leave the team.

The 33-year-old veteran’s career of 14 seasons in the majors seemed to have come to an end when the Cubs released him in 2022. However, the Dodgers gave him a minor league contract in the spring and with his good performance earned him a spot on the big team. The left-handed outfielder and hitter has appeared in 34 games and is hitting .192/.312/.410 with 4 home runs, 5 doubles and 8 RBIs. With James Outman and key shots from him, Heyward doesn’t seem to have a place in the club.
