CLEVELAND — Mookie Betts matched a career high with five hits and drove in a couple of runs to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday in the resumption of a game suspended the day before.
And in the game that was originally scheduled for Thursday, Puerto Rican Kiké Hernández hit a home run and two doubles, for the Dodgers to repeat the dose, this time 9-3.
Betts had four singles in the first six innings of the daytime game and had a two-run double in the eighth for the NL West-leading Dodgers, who are 19-3 in August.
A seven-time All-Star, Betts had already had five hits in a duel on August 26, 2016, when he played with Boston and faced Kansas City.
On the day, Betts produced three runs. He is 9-for-11 in the three-game series and has a .568 average during a 12-game hitting streak.
Los Angeles led 3-1 following two innings on Wednesday when heavy rain forced the game to be interrupted for 1 hour and 37 minutes before the suspension was called.
