Presented at CES 2022, the RoG Strix SCAR 17 SE is finally official. Asus has announced with great fanfare the forthcoming marketing of this beast that makes it proud. The event deserves attention. Given its monster configuration, this machine might well bear its nickname which already sticks to its skin, that of the most powerful gaming laptop in the world.
The most powerful gaming PC on the market?
Asus has never weighed its words to qualify the RoG Strix SCAR 17 SE. Since its presentation at the show CES 2022, the new flagship of Republic of Gamers is flocked with positive superlatives of all kinds. At its manufacturer, it is already presented as the most powerful gaming PC, not in its range, but in the whole world, all brands combined. To go even further, Asus did not hesitate to affirm that this new gaming PC will be able to compete with fixed PCs. There is reason to doubt the greatest number.
The thing is, laptops come with constraints that typically cause them to perform less than desktops. There is also the problem of temperature. The components of these most powerful PCs have the annoying tendency to heat up. The cooling systems, still because of the lack of space, are however less efficient on the laptop PC. Ignoring these truths of the high-tech world, Asus has assured that its next flagship on the gaming laptop market will show a difference of only 2% compared to desktop computers in terms of performance and temperature management.
A monster configuration
The good news is that these are not empty words. On paper, the Asus RoG Strix SCAR 17 SE truly has the best hardware configuration on the market. It does a little better than theAcer Predator Triton 500 SE. The beast will run on an Intel Core i9-12950 HX processor and its 16 cores. Much more powerful than its big brother, thei9-12900 KS, this processor is capable of reaching the frequency of 5.5 GHz in boost mode. It is supported by a graphics card Nvidia Geforce RTX 3080 Ti. Why not there RTX 3090 Ti presented as the most powerful GPU of the moment? Quite simply because it does not yet exist in a portable version.
Also include a 64 GB DDR5 RAM clocked at 4800 MHz and a 4 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD in RAID 0 offering a theoretical throughput of 14 Gb / s. The display will be provided by two panels to choose from, including an FHD with a refresh rate of 360 Hz and a QHD at 240 Hz. To cool all this, Asus has opted for a liquid metal system that replaces thermal paste and for a vapor chamber that covers a large part of the motherboard.
Unsurprisingly, the Asus RoG Strix SCAR 17 SE will be offered at a price worthy of its performance. Count at least 3399 € to buy the basic version. The beast will be marketed in the third quarter of the market.
