The world of gaming is eagerly awaiting the month of June and the ball of big announcements from the biggest publishers on the market. Ubisoft, the Summer Game Fest and more recently Xbox Games have already announced their dates. On the side of Sony, doubt still hovered despite the strong rumors regarding holding a PlayStation Showcase in June. The event might be held earlier than planned.
End of May, beginning of June
For now, PlayStation is holding back from releasing an official announcement. However, it is practically certain that the Japanese firm will play the game of big announcements despite the cancellation of the E3 2023 show. Gamers and players in the vast world of video games are content, while waiting for this official announcement, to speculate on the date, some with more seriousness and credibility than others. This is the case of the VGC site which predicts the holding of a PlayStation Showcase towards the end of this month of May or at the very beginning of June. The site claims to hold this information from sources close to Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Another leaker, even more credible, spoke on the subject by confirming the statements of VGC. He wants to be more precise by saying that this famous PlayStation Showcase will be held during the week of May 25. According to Jeff Grubb, to whom we owe the leak on Sony’s next portable console, this would be the latest date on which the event might be held. This means that the live might just as well take place a few days before.
If the information is confirmed, Sony will simply have chosen to take the lead by surpassing all the other big events of the same period. Indeed, the majority of market players have chosen the month of June, like the Summer Game Fest 2023 which will be held on June 8 or the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct scheduled for June 11. Will this strategy be a winner? Will Sony oust all the other gamers meetings or will its Showcase quickly fall into oblivion because of the other events that will be held just a few days later? We would at least need to know the official date to get a track of an answer.

The very content of PlayStation Showcase 2023 remains equally uncertain. The PS5 and affiliated services, including PlayStation Plus, will certainly be addressed. Sony should also say more regarding some highly anticipated triple A games like Final Fantasy XVI, which is scheduled for release in June. Many gamers are also expecting to hear more regarding Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which normally might be coming to PS5 consoles by the end of the year.
Perhaps we would be entitled to some novelties concerning the PSVR 2 which arrived on the market last February? Nothing is less sure. All the information mentioned around this PlayStation Showcase has not been confirmed by Sony. They are therefore to be taken with a grain of salt!!!
