López Obrador secures agreement between Venezuela and the US for oil

Caracas.- The president of Mexico, Manuel López Obrador, took for granted a possible negotiation between the governments of Venezuela and the United States for the extraction of one million barrels of oil per day.

In a video published by Jorge Agobian, White House correspondent for La Voz de América, a fragment of the press conference offered in the morning from the National Palace can be seen.

“There was already an agreement with Venezuela for a US company to extract 1 million barrels (of oil) per day,” the Mexican president said in the audiovisual.

Likewise, López Obrador assured that this “is good for Venezuela, it is good for the United States, it is good for the world.”

During his statement, the president also referred to his participation in the next diplomatic meeting of the Summit of the Americas, which will be held in the city of Los Angeles in June.

“If they are excluded, if not everyone is invited, a representation of the Government of Mexico will go, but I would not go, the foreign minister, Marcelo Ebrard, would represent me,” he asserted.

Previously, the US government stated that it sees “unlikely” to agree to the request of the Mexican president to convene countries such as Cuba, Venezuela or Nicaragua.

To an express question, López Obrador pointed out that his absence from the Summit would be a message of protest, since he does not want this type of policy to continue in the Americas.
