Mexico City.- The president from Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, reported this Monday that meeting with a group of congressmen from the United Statesof the Democratic and Republican parties, at the National Palace.
“We received at the National Palace the Visit of US legislators of the Democratic and Republican parties,” López Obrador said in a message on social media, and he will hand over the position to Claudia Sheinbaum on October 1.
“We agree that We must maintain the policy of cooperation and good neighborliness which has been beneficial for our peoples and nations”he added.

The meeting, which lasted almost three hours, also included The United States ambassador to Mexico attendedKen Salazar, and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE, Chancellery) of Mexico, Alicia Bárcena.
“We discussed all (issues). The president (López Obrador) gave them a complete overview of what he has done, what is being done, the very good relationship we have with the United States“, Bárcena told the media when questioned upon leaving the meeting.
In addition to Salazar, the head of the Foreign Ministry, Mark Johnson, was in attendance, along with the legislative representation, including the Democratic senator for Delaware, Tom Carper, who led the delegation to the United States Congress.
Also in attendance were Democratic Senators Mark Kelly of Arizona and Laphonza Butler of California; Representatives Jesus Garcia of Illinois District 4; Greg Stanton of Arizona District 4; and Sydney Kamlager-Dove of California District 37.

Trump, the Republican candidate for the White House in the November elections, was slightly injured in one ear in an attack that took place during a rally last Saturday in Butler (Pennsylvania), where two people died, a member of the public and the attacker, Thomas Matthew, a 20-year-old who was shot dead by security forces.
The official presidential candidate was carried off the stage on foot, but with traces of blood on his right ear.
The assassination attempt has further united Republicans around Trump, whom many in the party consider a hero for his quick reaction following surviving the shooting, since, as the Secret Service evacuated him, he raised his fist in victory, in an image that will go down in history.
López Obrador was one of the first leaders to condemn the attack on Trump with a message on his social networks a few minutes following the news broke last Saturday: “In any case, we condemn what happened to former President Donald Trump. The violence is irrational and inhumane.” EFE
