MEXICO CITY.- This Thursday, in his usual morning press conference, the president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorreferred to an article published by journalist Carlos Loret de Mola entitled: “The future of the President’s children.”
In his column, the Yucatecan journalist wrote that the Head of Government elected from Mexico City, Clara Brugada“I would receive the three boys endorsed so that The clan stay alive and kicking, for starters, supported by the juicy budget of the country’s capital.”
In his press conference, President López Obrador reacted to Loret de Mola’s text about his children Jose Ramon, Andres Manuel and Gonzalo Alfonso Lopez Beltran.
“I’m lazy. There is no basis, it’s not right,” said López Obrador when questioned about Carlos Loret de Mola’s column.
“Your source is wrong (…) let him prove it, it is very vulgar, vulgar to be lying, talking about ‘my source’,” the President reacted when attacking journalist Anabel Hernández.
“If there is no evidence, how can one slander someone? What kind of journalism is that?” he declared.
In the Treasury Hall, the head of the Executive asked Carlos Loret de Mola “to reflect calmly, to calm down because that does not help him humanly, it is something sickening.”
In the face of the alleged investigation of the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) against Loret de Mola, his wife Berenice Yaber, journalist Víctor Trujillo and Latinus, the President reported that its head, Pablo Gómez, will report on Wednesday.
He assured that his government does not persecute anyone: “But also, with these adversaries; first, we are not repressors, we have ideals, we have principles; but also, why are we going to face these adversaries if they end up becoming our promoters (…)”.
AMLO defends his children
“If I have evidence, I should present it. Of course, corruption must be denounced, whoever it is. If one of my sons is involved in an act of corruption and it is proven, he should be tried like any other person, and investigated and punished,” said the president.
“But it is not possible that because they have problems with me, they slander a son without any proof. Where is the proof? So you cannot be so cynical, that is not normal, no matter how much courage you have, there is a limit, that is not rational,” said López Obrador, mentioning that Loret de Mola’s journalism “is toxic.”
Loret de Mola responds to AMLO
“What cynicism from the president. He asks for ‘proof’ about the corruption of his children: we have been presenting telephone recordings, documents, contracts, photographs for months,” Loret de Mola responded through his X account.
