Couture Fashion Week kicked off on Monday in Paris, with a number of stars, most notably Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna, attending and displaying dazzling creative designs at this event, which constitutes a showcase for a sector that generates billions.
This event differs from Paris Fashion Week, as Women’s Haute Couture Week is held in January for the summer, and in July for the winter, only in Paris, as this date has a French privacy protected by a special legal status. The event is also closed, as only press and customers can attend presentations of unique handcrafted pieces. Fans are accustomed to having those in the front row during these shows steal the spotlight from the stage.
During the Scaparelli House show, stars sat on their chairs at the front of the audience: actress Zendaya, singer Jennifer Lopez, or even the former First Lady of France, Carla Bruni. The most famous fashion journalist Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, attended the dazzling show, hiding behind her sunglasses, with the brand hidden so as not to arouse anyone’s ire.
The brand’s best customers, of all ages, were placed in the front row, alongside cages, gilded sculptures and precious stones. The declared theme of this show, which was signed by designer Daniel Rosebery, revolved around “creatures from the other world.”
The historic house, which only manufactures high-end fashion, has crossed the technological limits once once more, creating a small dress from parts of hard drives, microprocessors and floppy disks. Dior’s women’s design director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, explained that she delved into the reflections of the philosopher of aesthetics, Walter Benjamin, for this season, returning to the definition of what a work of art is.
