López-Alegría and his AX-1 mission companions leave the ISS

For this Tuesday, following a 10-day stay on the International Space Station (ISS), the departure of the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft with Ax-1 mission commander Michael López-Alegría, pilot Larry Connor and the mission specialists Eytan Stibbe and Mark Pathy, back to Earth. The spacecraft will splash down this Wednesday off the coast of Florida.

The Ax-1 spacecraft will return to Earth with nearly a hundred kilograms of scientific material and supplies, including NASA experiments, hardware and commercial science payloads.

Ax-1 is the first of several proposed Axiom Space missions to the ISS and a important step towards Axiom Station, the world’s first private space station, which will serve as a center in low Earth orbit for research and exploration.
