The Loot Specialist is an elite monster in Dragonflight patch 10.0.7. It appears randomly in L70 Forbidden Borders and can drop interesting items. On the other hand, he has a peculiarity that will bring back good memories to Diablo 3 players. Like the goblins in the ARPG, he disappears into a portal if you don’t kill him quickly enough.
While wandering around the area, you will sometimes come across the Loot Specialist, a character obviously affiliated with the Venture Company. No icon displays its position on the map, unlike other elite rare monsters. If he’s close to you, the minimap will still let you know he’s there.
As you approach, you will notice the presence of an open chest with gold coins inside. The Loot Specialist is invisible and will only appear when you are close enough to him. it will remain translucent for a few seconds before appearing more clearly.
The monster will then escape and you must follow it to attack it. By inflicting damage on him, he will drop gold coins on the ground and will eventually escape by summoning a portal. If you kill him quickly (he only has 437K of life), you can loot several items.
For my part, here is what I was able to recover:
- 2 Zskera Vault Keys
- 529 Elemental Overflows
- 2 tokens for ilvl 385 items
- A Watch-Drake Scroll for the Cliff-Wild Drake: Twisted Horns
The Loot Specialist appears to respawn fairly quickly, sometimes in as little as 5 minutes. We do not yet know if this number is fixed or random, but we will have to keep an eye on it because the monster might well be the subject of intensive farming for its key drops and elemental overflows.
